Sound of Freedom (My Thoughts)
So there's a film in theaters called sound of freedom based on the accounts of Former Federal Agent and founder of Operation : Underground Railroad, Timothy Ballard. Pictured below is Timothy Ballard, alongside to the left, is Actor Jim Cavaziel who portrays him in the film.
The Independent film follows the accounts of the undercover operation in Columbia which found a total of over 123 kidnapped individuals by organized crime. The group OUR or Operation Underground Railroad has had a number of allegations and controversies in recent years regarding exaggerating it's contributions to the rescues of trafficked children.
But that's not the issue I am going to mention here today. The only issue I am going to mention here is the links to some Qanon conspiracy theory that there is a grand unified conspiracy to kidnap and sacrifice children. Mentioned in the Guardian, CNN, and Rolling Stones. And the news is : It's all bullshit. No such grand conspiracy is ever mentioned in the film. Meaning that the people at CNN either never watched the film, or outright lied about it, and saying you saw it and pretending to know about it is still lying, sorry to say.
I'm honestly disappointed about this debacle, why? Because people in news outlets are stooping to the same level as those they claim to oppose. There is no grand conspiracy in the film, there is no Quackadoodle in the film either, what there is, is a story which even if totally false, actually happens in various parts of the world including the United States. It's literal slavery and there shouldn't be the slightest disagreement that drug cartels aren't good organizations. It's also disappointing that a traditional news media outlet would decide to host someone to spew utter nonsense like those conspiracy theorists they claim to oppose.
I'm also aware about Angel Studios, and they usually produced religion-themed films, but this is perhaps the least explicitly religion-focused film. I stress perhaps because I haven't seen much of what Angel Studios has produced. the film frames Tim Ballard as largely feeling the resolve to save the kidnapped children because he empathizes with the fact that he is a father himself. This could be just about any religion or even an atheist who could feel this kind of empathy.
As for the film, it's fairly grounded with dramatic license, it's PG-13 and rightly so given the implied abuse you see in the film where the captives are found after being held prisoner in inhuman confinement. At the end of the day, it's another historical drama film. But my honest question is why? Why do you care so much to make a distorted narrative of this film, making up some narrative that doesn't even exist in it?
Was the film not from your adored media company such as Universal, Warner Brothers, Disney, Paramount, etc.? Was it not your desired blockbuster hit? Look I have no problem admitting I love movies that had a poor box office, such as Fight Club, Blade Runner, Wizard of Oz, and the list could go on, but at the end of the day, if the films stand, they stand. Also why do you care so much about some film when you choose not to watch it? As for some recent Box Office bombs like the new Indiana Jones or The Flash, Did you Enjoy Them? Because just like my enjoyment of previous Box Office Bombs, it's what should matter to you more than the Box Office results. Also sometimes it's time for something new, something standalone every once in a while. I enjoyed and watched Indiana Jones or DC Comics Superhero films, but I was always willing to gladly bow out if it was time for something else.
Why do you think there's some political side to being against trafficking people? Has anyone in your family gotten kidnapped and disappeared? I'm disappointed with the strawman featured on CNN, because trafficking and making slaves out of teens and children is very real. Like I say to any other conspiracy rant, I will say to CNN and their audience. Don't play with absurdities and give up playing opposites with people for the sake of being the opposite. Kids being kidnapped and exploited is real in today's world.
The saddest part about this situation is the fact that it disappoints me, one of the more hesitant people to be outraged at someone, that long-running news outlets would stoop to the level of tabloids. I never gushed with joy at the decline of news outlets, but when outlets which should be more respected stoop to low levels to badmouth, it unfortunately makes the decline feel deserved. Be better. Trafficking and exploiting children should not have any political side, and should be universally despised in today's decent civilized world.
