Kaos Tutorials : Is OpenEmu Making A Comeback?
Is OpenEmu making a comeback? Years back in 2021 the last known update to the multiple system emulator known as OpenEmu was offered by the Community who helped run the Emulator Application and keep it emulated. Until it wasn't the last update. The New Year of 2024 saw a new update of the Emulator to Version 2.4, which you can get by going here:
There have been some changes, such as using a hotkey on the keyboard to perform a save state when now the Emulator asks for you to pause the Emulation and save the state from a Drop Down Menu instead. Other long-time emulated games such as Perfect Dark and Super Mario World 64 also don't work properly when emulated now. However, the recent update - the first new update in years, raises the question of whether or not this is a last stand by the organization behind the Emulator or if the Emulator is being revived for an ongoing effort to remain functional for years to come. Only time will tell.
Meanwhile, I have also released a video set to premiere on YouTube Concerning the unknown future status of OpenEmu in the wake of the recent update. The video is also a guide on getting started with the emulator and should prove most useful in getting your old retro games running. My series known as Kaos Tutorials will be on hiatus for some time but I look forward to resuming the series with new uploads in the Second Week of February! Here's to a new year of new frontiers in technology to explore!
