Steam Compatibility Issues Have Come Up! (Codeweavers Crossover 24 and Later!)

 New Steam Compatibility Issues!

Steam Installation Guide

And so here we are folks!  Updates keep happening and corresponding adjustments need to be made to keep up with the changes caused by these software updates!  Today, we will be taking a look at Steam, which due to updates to Steam and Codeweavers Crossover.   I have the Steam Installation Guide video which works over on YouTube for the time being.  But here are a few recommendations if various applications do not seem to be working on Steam.

1) Install Steam as Windows 10, 64-bit Bottle.

So far, Installing Steam as a Windows 11 Bottle actually causes decreased compatibility.  The video guide to Installing Steam is available below

2) Activate "Advanced Settings"

Using the Advanced Settings handles a great deal of issues with running some Apps, with the wrong settings activated, you can experience problems.

You can take a look at the settings recommended on the Steam Bottle for Halo: The Master Chief Collection

The various settings depend on the following : DXVK must be installed in order to activate it.  High Resolution Mode depends on an App being set to run in high resolution.  Not all Applications are, and in some applications, especially older Applications, you can have the display improperly scaled when in High Resolution Mode.  D3DMetal can only work with the GPTK or Game Porting Tool Kit, a developer tool from Apple, Installed.  These settings apply for certain games in Steam, but not for others.  Remember to turn the preferences off for playing different games.  The guide for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is available here

3) Re-Install Steam

This Step is a Last Resort.  Make sure the other two steps previously shown do not work or that Steam is genuinely not starting instead of it's automatic updates.  With these tips, Steam Apps can be fixed.  Some will not be compatible.  Remember, Codeweavers Crossover is not compatible with all Applications, but many applications have become compatible over newer updates.
