Playing Command & Conquer in 2026 (Part 2)

Playing Command & Conquer in 2026 (Part 2)

Now, to continue the guides for Command & Conquer in 2026, we will resume with the remainder of the games from the First Decade through Tiberium Twilight! Now, to begin, some of these games are available on the Gaming Service known as Steam!  These games will work fine on PC with Steam, but for a Mac User, you will need to emulate Microsoft Windows using a gaming service by Valve known as Steam.

So, for being prepared for games which will involve Steam?  Here is an updated guide for Steam Installation, made for Crossover 25 and later!

With Steam out of the way, let's take a look at the remaining games in the Command & Conquer Series!

Command & Conquer Generals and Zero Hour

The Generals Game is now available on Steam, along with the Zero Hour expansion.  If you have Steam Installed, you are free to go and play this game, it runs quite smoothly.  The one issue which may come up is a black screen while the game runs.  This is due to more advanced graphics settings being active, to fix it, go to the Steam Bottle and turn off all the Advanced Graphics settings for Steam.  Screenshots below should guide you on how to do this.

Being an older game, Generals and its Zero Hour expansion were not meant to run in HD, and so you might get issues if the Advanced Settings for Graphics, Synchronization, and High Resolution, are active.  Otherwise, the game runs well with the relatively new Steam version available.  With Generals up and running, it's now time to see how well the other 3D Command & Conquer Titles work!

Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars and Kane's Wrath

This game, the sequel to Tiberian Sun, is available to play via Steam, or rather has been available to play via Steam or the EA App for some time.  You can play the EA App through Crossover, and it has a working preset CrossTie for installing the EA App.  For Steam, it's optimal to use the guide above.  Either way, regardless of if you are using the EA App or Steam, you should have the following "Advanced Settings" set for the game to prevent display freezing or black screens.

As you can see, no special settings should be engaged for either the EA App or for Steam.  And now, Tiberium Wars is playable, and so it is now on to Red Alert 3, the next game in line for release, and the Spinoff for the Red Alert series.

Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 & Uprising

With the single player co-op campaigns with AI Partners and the later challenge mode for the Uprising Expansion.  Somewhat of a disappointing game for some with the changes in gameplay from the previous Red Alert, although a number of people had fun with the Challenges in the Uprising Expansion.  Now, getting the game to run on Mac is relatively simple : Have Steam or the EA App installed to run the game.  Similar to Tiberium Wars, the Advanced Settings for the Steam or EA App Bottle should be turned off.

Command & Conquer 4 : Tiberian Twilight

While this is not a title I enjoy for it's changes in the gameplay, it nonetheless does work on Mac using Codeweavers Crossover.  Same as before, follow the guidelines for Installing Steam and I have not yet tested the EA App version of this game yet.  But so far, the Steam version of the game works just fine!  So with this considered, the game works just great and this concludes the Command & Conquer games so far.  I want to wish you a Happy New Year!

Now, you should have a great time with some of the Command & Conquer Game Series  on Crossover 25!  Also here is the new and updated guide for Steam Also provided are guides for Age of Empires II : Definitive Edition, Age of Empires III : Definitive Edition, Fallout : New Vegas, Fallout 4, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, in addition to other guides for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Fallout : Community Edition, and Escape Velocity Nova : Community Edition.  In conclusion, I would like to invite you to check out the Forums on Codeweavers.  Entries for various apps have forums and Tips for getting the Applications to work!  If you are available to actively test and rate the compatibility of various Applications on Codeweavers Crossover, you may want to consider becoming a Bettertester!  As a Bettertester, you regularly test Apps and can be rewarded with Bettertester Points to buy merchandise or even extended subscriptions to Crossover, saving money you would need for renewing your subscription!
